I left my house at 4pm and after sitting in some traffic, got to the NorVa at 4:45. As soon as I got there I called Tom (from Powerspace) and let him know I was there and ready when he was ready to come get me. As I'm standing by the line (I wasn't in line because there was no point, I wouldn't be in line much more than 30 minutes before Tom came to get me anyway.) As I'm standing in line, this short guy comes up and starts talking to me. (Didn't know who he was at first.) I talked to him for about 15 - 20 minutes, and it wasn't until he walked away that I realized he was Andrew De Torres (from Danger Radio). After talking to Andrew, the guy comes out and lets us in for the Cute is What We Aim For meet and greet. I remember reading a bunch of times that the guys in Cute are arrogant assholes and things of that nature, and let me be the first to tell you, none of that is true. They were all very nice guys and they spent as much time as we wanted, talking to us individually. So after the meet and greet, Tom comes to get me and I go in and help him hang up posters and talk to him for awhile. About 20 minutes later, the doors open and everyone else gets in. About 30 minutes after that, the show starts.
Powerspace - They weren't horrible, but I'm not a fan. The venue sound was a little off and the singer couldn't be heard, but they definately put on a show. Tom went over and kissed Alec, the singer, on the cheek. It was cute. Needless to say, I don't know any of the songs they played.
Danger Radio - What an amazing band. I had never heard them before going to the show and I left a fan. Andrew, the singer, is about as energetic as a ferret on crack (and we all know that ferrets are energetic to begin with). It was an amazing set and it kept making me want to dance. A+ for Danger Radio. As I said earlier, I wasn't a fan before the show, but I managed to leave with a few song titles from the set list.
Kiss N' Tell
One More Chance
Broken Man
Ace Enders and Million Different People - I only knew one song by them when I went, and I was so very happy they played it in their set. Ace Enders was in a band called the Early November, and I was totally a fan of them. I was also super excited when he played an version of, Ever So Sweet, by the Early November, in his set. The few songs I know he played are...
Bring Back Love (Year 2020)
Rain
Ever So Sweet
Cute is What We Aim For - I saw them once before when they played a show with Fall Out Boy last year, and I thought they were pretty good live. I was actually really really excited to see them play, especially after meeting them and finding out they're really nice and really funny. Shaant was pretty interactive with the crowd, and he definately doesn't stand still during their set. It was a lot of fun. The songs I remember them playing are...
the Fourth Drink Instinct
Curse of Curves
Practice Makes Perfect
Safe Ride (Dedicated to the graduates of 2008)
Do What You Do
Risque
Moan
Doctor
Wayward Living
Navigate Me
Lyrical Lies
