Simply put, Fletch are an amazing band out of Las Vegas, Nevada. From my interview with the singer, Tony, I've learned that they are nice, funny guys. I also learned that they appreciate their fans listening to them, and they encourage you to just "listen to the music" any way you can get your hands on it. In my opinion, that is the true meaning of a band. You should all give Fletch a listen over at their myspace.
Tell us the brief history of your band.
We've been a band for about 3 years with this line-up. we have been signed to an indie label (ifiymm records) and have toured most of the US. we have finally split ways with our old record label and are now completely do-it-yourself. we have recorded 3 new songs (listed on our myspace), and we are shooting a video for one of the songs, "fireworks."
How would you describe your music to people?
we just try to be as energetic and fun as possible.
Describe your show, visually and musically.
we move around alot. and tend to really get into the moment.
What's your claim to fame?
we are a band that is always on our own. and we work really hard for everything we do.
Why do you do what you do?
we grew up being inspired by so many bands. we want to inspire now.
Tell us a story about a day in your life.
we wake up, early in the afternoon. we check our myspace and try to write back as many people as we can. we sometimes deliver tickets for our show. we typically practice everyday for a couple hours. and sometimes, when things get stressful, we'll play catch together at the park. sounds lame, but catch is just sweet :)
What is your song writing process like?
I'll usually start off with the idea, lyrically and structurally. and then we all get started on it. everyone in our band adds their own thing to the music.
Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
We're inspired a lot by the pop-punk generation. Blink 182 made everyone our age want to start a band. but we all have different inspirations. jessie loves the bass playing in rush and red hot chili peppers. nick and diego are hardcore based. ryan is into just about everything and anything. some of my influences are basic song writers like billy joel. but we're all basically into the same stuff in our band. those are just major influences.
What do you think about downloading music online, outside of iTunes?
we encourage it. as long as people listen to the music, we're happy.
What's your outlook on the record industry today?
its changed quite a bit. its harder for artists to make it big because the line between making it and not making it has dramatically stretched. but you have to go with the flow, whether you like it or not.
What advice would you give to fellow bands?
follow your dreams and make them happen.
What are some of your pet peeves?
LA traffic, bad drivers, flat tires, vans breaking down. those kinds of things :)
How does music affect you and the world around you?
It can express how you truly feel. whether youre listening to it, or writing it.
What's the best and worst thing about playing clubs?
best is being able to play in front of many kids. the worst part is sometimes not getting paid to get to the next town.
Tell us about your next tour and why we should be there.
we're gonna bring the party. we want to have fun and want to throw all our energy into it.
What songs are on the soundtrack to your life?
this question has far too many answers. we listen to so much its hard to say.
If you could only pick one album to listen to for the rest of your life what would it be?
id go crazy. me personally, i guess i'd have to say the rocket summer, hello, good friend. that record is so positive.
What's the craziest rumor you've ever heard about yourself or your band?
it might be too dirty to say haha. we always hear about girls saying "ive hooked up with this member of the band." and in most cases, its not really true haha.
what's the story behind your band name?
we got it from the movie "fletch"
what were you like in high school?
naive about the music industry. we just played music and lived like high school kids.
Tell us something interesting about you.
every song written by us, has a story to it.

Do you think that the more recent technology advancements, things like Myspace, instant messenger and text messaging are having a positive impact or a negative impact?

Where do you see yourself and your band in 5 and 10 years?
who knows. hopefully on big stages!
You played a show with Panic at the Disco a few years ago in Las Vegas at the Alley, how was that?
it was fun. they are really nice guys.
What was your inspiration for the song "I Solemnly Swear"?
well, that song was written by diego and i lyrically. we thought it would be fun to write a song about making that sweet, sweet love haha. so thats how that came about.
