I've been a Story of the Year fan since their album Page Avenue came out and I saw them on the Meteora World Tour in 2004 with Linkin Park. When I heard they were coming out with their third album, I was excited to say the least. After listening to the new album "The Black Swan" once through I was impressed. A few tracks stood out. The opening track "Choose Your Fate" thrusts you into fast paced music and powerhouse screams. This is a stark contrast to the track "Terrified" which brings a much slower vibe to the album. In the end the album is balanced out by the difference in the songs, and this is demonstrated in the song "Message to the World." It is a mixture of the two seperate aspects of the album, and does an amazing job at bringing the album together and making it whole. This is in my opinion the best track on the album. It uses a interesting combo of the typical equipment with tribal music. You can pick out bongos, and even a maraca. If you listen to the album, you can hear that it tells a story and sends out a message. A message that should be heard. I would definitely suggest it to anyone.
