I’ve never been overly impressed with The Audition.  I’ve seen them live a couple of times and they’ve been kinda forgettable, and they are some of the biggest A-holes in music I’ve ever met.  But their first album had some catchy studio songs, even if they couldn’t carry them off well live.  So i downloaded the album on a chance that they may have seasoned with age and there would be improvement in the 3 years from their debut album.
However, it seems as though this band have gone through some sort of diluting, as every song sounds near enough the same, and with the lead singer’s voice seeming to have finally broken, the deeper vocals do little to aid the tracks.  The bounce and power that some of the tracks on Controversy Loves Controversy had, has evaporated, and the only real perks on the album come from the guitar riffs in Basbhat and Heaven For The Weather.  This band seems to be fast sinking into the pit of the generic Victory Records band, and may need to take some advice from label mates, A Day To Remember, to learn how to regain some punch into their sound.
