To be quite honest, I've been a fan of the Academy Is for awhile, and when I first heard SANTI, I was more than disappointed. I think mostly because I didn't want the band I loved so much to change like they did. I never, though, gave up on the album. I simply put it away for a few weeks. After taking a break from it, and listening again, I loved it. It's sort of odd to listen to their old stuff and then SANTI in the same playlist because it's like going from one extreme to the other. If I had to pick a favorite song off the album when I first heard it, I'd look at you like you were crazy, because I didn't think there was any good songs on it. But now I can say that I absolutely without a doubt love Bulls in Brooklyn and Everything We Had. If you're a fan of older stuff music, such as Billy Joel, and have never heard the Academy Is before, you should have no problem taking to this album; however, if you're a fan of the Academy Is, and are listening to this for the first time, prepare yourself for a shock, because it is quite different. Still, I can't wait to see what these five guys from Chicago bring us next.
